CATCA 2022 has ended

CATCA recognizes that convention is situated on Treaty 7, South of Red Deer River the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the North of Red Deer River Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land.

Most pre-recorded videos and Zoom LIVE recordings will be found right here on SCHED until April 30th. Keynotes are an exception.

The Pastoral Approach to Support Students in their Development and Understanding of Sexuality for Catholic School Teachers

Homosexuality is a sensitive topic in today’s society. As Roman Catholics, we know that the Church is not immune to the reactions and responses that this topic can stir within and surrounding our faith communities. The session is created for educators, counsellors, and school liaison workers in the Catholic School who minister with 2SLGBTQ+ students guiding them in offer strong relationships.

The session will explore the Catholic Church Teachings on Homosexuality, what it means to be pastoral in our approach, the principles of pastoral care, and ensuring the students in our schools feel loved and supported in the school community. In addition, the session will explore practical guidance in helping the student and commonly asked questions about the church teachings.
