CATCA 2022 has ended

CATCA recognizes that convention is situated on Treaty 7, South of Red Deer River the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the North of Red Deer River Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land.

Most pre-recorded videos and Zoom LIVE recordings will be found right here on SCHED until April 30th. Keynotes are an exception.

Food Explorers: Sparking curiosity with nutrition education

Food Explorers is a kindergarten and grade 1 nutrition education program that focuses on sparking curiosity around food and eating. Students will have fun exploring a variety of foods through the mysteries of tastes, textures, and colours. The best part? The program is completely free for teachers to order!

Join this interactive teacher workshop to receive the complete, cross curricular, free nutrition education program sent directly to your school. Please note, this program is only available to order for kindergarten and grade 1 teachers.

You will leave the session with:
• Ready-to-use classroom materials including:
o A teacher guide with 16, curricular-linked lesson plans;
o Student materials including stickers and journal pages;
o Take-home recipe cards;
o Adapted lesson plans for online learning; and
o Tasty recipes and tips for positive classroom cooking experiences.
• A refreshed understanding of how to approach nutrition education with K-1 students.
• Curriculum-linked, evidence-informed, and teacher-reviewed lessons, and teaching tools.
• Opportunities for ongoing support from Registered Dietitians.
• Opportunity to apply for a mini food grant to use for food exploration in the classroom.
