CATCA 2022 has ended

CATCA recognizes that convention is situated on Treaty 7, South of Red Deer River the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the North of Red Deer River Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land.


Most pre-recorded videos and Zoom LIVE recordings will be found right here on SCHED until April 30th. Keynotes are an exception.

Beautiful Textural Floral Painting in Acrylics

For those who love flowers and colours, this is a perfect workshop. With the help of acrylics, brushes and palette knives, beautiful floral arrangements will come to life. You will learn how to paint flowers with a variety of paint strokes to capture and emphasize the essence of the subject rather than in details. Participants will be provided with a PowerPoint presentation and a video link for their classroom. Open to art and general teachers of grades 6- 12. You will need the following supplies for this session: 
1.) Canvas or watercolour paper, 9"x 12" or larger. 
2.) Acrylics: white, black, yellow, purple, red (Alizarin Crimson an Cadmium Red), green (Phthalo Green), blue (Phthalo Blue and Cerulean Blue), Naples and pink (optional)
3.) Brushes, medium soft synthetic or bristle in various sizes and shapes
4.) Palette knife, diamond shape 1' - 1,5" (metal or plastic - optional)
5.) Paper towel
6.) Styrofoam plate as paint palette 
7.) Water container 
8.) HB pencil and eraser 
9.) Light modeling paste or heavy acrylic gel (optional)
