CATCA 2022 has ended

CATCA recognizes that convention is situated on Treaty 7, South of Red Deer River the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the North of Red Deer River Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land.


Most pre-recorded videos and Zoom LIVE recordings will be found right here on SCHED until April 30th. Keynotes are an exception.

Ten Peaks Innovation Alliance Inc is a not for profit organization, hosting annual educational conferences, one for students and the second for teachers, developing webinars and lesson plans focusing on innovation, technology and entrepreneurship and supporting a student led case competition. Ten Peaks' session is an educational opportunity to showcase Alberta's innovation technology and entrepreneurship and how we are transitioning to a new energy mix and addressing climate change. The session will help attendees discover the opportunities and challenges facing Alberta’s natural resource sector, its ingenuity and technological strengths as well as the possibilities that exist as the province diversifies its energy mix.

The session on Carbon Capture and Our Energy Transition supports teachers as you add excellent energy, environmental and climate education program to enrich your knowledge that can be readily transferred to your students. This 75 minute session has three speakers, one from industry and one from U of C, both experts on carbon capture in Alberta and a co speaker from U of C highlighting and demonstrating the interactive and engaging activities you can use in the classroom. The session will showcase how carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) contributes to the transition to net zero in multiple ways. The session will highlight how Alberta is an amazing place for CCUS through a case study from Enhance Energy and the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line Project.  The session will also discuss carbon markets, innovation and how collaboration in the industry is critical meeting our climate change goals.

Candice Paton, Executive Director for Regulatory Affairs and External Relations at Enhance Energy was a speaker at the 10Peaks Innovation Xchange and her 30 min. session can be found on our Learning Library. This 30 minute session will be increased and elaborated on at the CATCA session with Dr. Maryam Mkhani, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Schulich School of Engineering and Kruti Mukesh, M.Sc.Sustainable Energy Development (U of C).   Interactive Q&A will also be encouraged.
