The first part of this interactive session will ground educators in important history to establish a framework for exploring the Calls to Justice for Educators from the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. The Challenging Our Stories of Canada historical timeline activity will foster a deeper understanding of the diverse stories of this country, encourage dialogue on systemic injustices and reflect on the current implications of this history in our education system today.

The second half of the session will provide an opportunity for teachers to engage with ‘Their Voices will Guide Us,’ an incredible teacher resource created by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. We will hold space to collaborate with other teachers and create action plans to implement the calls to action in your classroom and school community. This session will look at these Calls to Action from a human rights perspective and focus on our obligation as treaty people to take action to bring attention and education to this urgent issue.
