Participants of this session will learn how to create a classroom community where students work collaboratively, not focusing on completion or perfection, but helping each other, taking risks, and practicing skills they're sure to use OUTSIDE of the classroom! In a student-centered classroom, the teacher plans instruction based on their students' academic needs and learning styles. Lecture, silent reading, and independent practice are often replaced with research & inquiry, collaborative comprehension, and peer practice, respectively. Instead of feeling like they're sitting in a silent library, a student-centered classroom is active and loud, but it's PRODUCTIVE and FOCUSED!

Start small by implementing a strategy or two from this session. Discover how motivational these methods are for students and start implementing more over time. When fully-immersed, teachers accomplish more of their curricular objectives and standards than they've ever accomplished before, with a higher rate of success from their students!
