Making Canada’s Food Guide (CFG) relevant and engaging for junior high students is possible!

Our new, free junior high programs can help you do exactly that. We are excited to share two programs with you in this session:
• CTF Foods: DIY Meals and Snacks
• Health: Food for Me
Both programs are designed for junior high students to explore CFG by creating meals and snacks using a variety of foods. Using fun and colorful videos and activities, students will practice creating meals and snacks that feature foods from the CFG Plate, explore the benefits of variety, examine what factors influence food choices, and culminate their learning with an engaging final challenge.

You will leave this session with:
• Ready-to-use classroom materials including:
o A teacher guide with background information, assessment tools and answer keys
o Colourful nutrient graph teaching tools
o Student workbooks with activity worksheets and assessment tools
o Slide decks with speaker notes
o Videos highlighting CFG
o Customizable recipes (foods program only)
o Videos highlighting recipe demonstrations (foods program only)
• A refreshed understanding of how to approach nutrition education with junior high students.
• An improved understanding of Canada’s Food Guide.
• Curriculum-linked, evidence-informed, and teacher-reviewed lessons and teaching tools.
• Opportunities for ongoing support from Registered Dietitians.
