CATCA 2022 has ended

CATCA recognizes that convention is situated on Treaty 7, South of Red Deer River the traditional territory of the Blackfoot, Tsuu T’ina and Stoney Nakoda peoples, and that the North of Red Deer River Treaty 6, traditional Métis, Cree and Saulteaux territory. We honour the First Peoples who have lived here since time immemorial, and we give thanks for the land.


Most pre-recorded videos and Zoom LIVE recordings will be found right here on SCHED until April 30th. Keynotes are an exception.

Sharpie Alphabet Lettering

Inspire your students to create handmade letters! Learn the techniques to create a whimsical sharpie alphabet using three different sizes of black sharpie markers. In this class you will learn how to master variations on an alphabet using sharpie markers as well as some simple watercolor painting techniques great for use on cards. The sharpie marker is a very versatile tool that can be used to create a variety of lettering for classroom projects. In this class you will complete 3 unique greeting cards.

Here are the supplies you need to get
1- white gel pen I recommend Sakura#10, Uniball Signo Pen or White Posca Pen size .07mm. These pens are available at Michaels.
1 - black chisel tip sharpie
1 - black fine point sharpie
1 - black ultra fine point sharpie
1- 12” strip of green painters tape
Paint palette or paper plate
Rag
Water container
½” flat brush
A round brush (any of sizes 4-12 will work)
3 - 8.5x11” sheets of black cardstock
2 - 5x7” pieces of Canson or Strathmore 140lb. Watercolor paper
1 - 4x5” piece of Canson or Strathmore 140lb. Watercolor paper
5 sheets of regular printer paper
Watercolor paints - yellow or gold , phthalo blue, rose or pink
Scissors
Ruler
Eraser
Pencil
Glue stick OR double sided tape
