Jan Clemis has been an ardent supporter of organ/tissue donation as a volunteer with the Kidney Foundation and Canadian Transplant Association for over 25 years. She received “The Gift of Life” from her son in 2018 when he donated a kidney to her, and her former husband was a double-lung transplant recipient. She and her family know the extraordinary meaning of a second chance and are grateful to share their journey with others. Dr. Mahoney is a pediatric intensivist, children’s author and donation physician working at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. She is a strong advocate for donor families and is passionate about donation education and awareness, particularly in school-aged children. She is currently leading a national initiative with Canadian Blood Services focused on pediatric donation and transplantation. Jenny Ryan is the national program lead for public education and awareness for organ and tissue donation and transplantation at Canadian Blood Services. Jenny and her team have developed an education portal that collects and shares a variety of resources to support teachers in bringing the topic of organ donation and transplantation, healthy living and social responsibility to their classroom to help educate students in a way that equips them to make informed choices about donation. Bernie Boulet is the Mother of Logan Boulet, who we honour each year on Green Shirt Day for the "Gift of Life" he gave to 6 individuals.
